What is Lusaka Fresh Index?
Lusaka Fresh Index is a market price intelligence platform for Zambia, publishing indicative prices for fresh vegetables, fruits and dried goods from major Lusaka markets. Our goal is to bring transparency and data accessibility to Lusaka's fresh produce ecosystem.
How Prices Are Collected
Prices are collected manually by trained market supervisors who visit markets and record typical buying prices at the time of collection. Data is submitted through our contributor portal and reviewed before publication.
What "Indicative" Means
All prices published on Lusaka Fresh Index are indicative only. They represent typical market rates at the time of data collection and are intended as a guide for reference purposes. They are not legal quotations and should not be used as the basis for formal commercial agreements without independent verification.
Units and Measures
Units are recorded exactly as observed at the market — per kilogram, per head, per bunch, etc. Units may vary between vendors and markets and are shown as collected. No unit conversion is applied.
Data Freshness
Prices are updated based on our collection schedule. Frequency depends on market conditions and supervisor availability. The date shown on each price entry reflects when the data was collected — not when it was published.
